Fire Door Inspection FAQs

How Much Does a Fire Door Inspection Cost?

There is no standard price for a fire door inspection, as each building we work on is unique. Please contact our team, who will be happy to assist in providing a detailed quote.

Yes, in the UK, it is a legal requirement to complete fire door inspections, particularly for public, commercial, and residential buildings. This is in accordance with Article 17 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

For buildings over 11 metres high, a formal inspection of fire doors must be completed annually for flat entrance doors, and a check must be done on all fire doors in communal areas at least every 3 months. Basic visual checks should also be done on a weekly or monthly basis to identify any damage or faults between inspections.

During an inspection of fire doors, the most common faults that expert firestoppers find are:

  • Missing smoke or fire seals
  • Excessive gaps around the door
  • Incorrect or unclear signage
  • Damaged door leaves
  • Unsuitable or poorly fitted hinges
