Active and passive fire protection companies can gain third party certification via independent accreditation schemes. Two of the most common independent verifiers are FIRAS and IFC . FIRAS is a UKAS accredited body and was developed in 1994 to help improve standards of the installation of fire protection systems and products.
IFC have worked to actively improve compliance and installation standards since 1985 and is itself accredited by UKAS. Certified companies with the IFC must conduct regular site & office audits, demonstrating that all installers and managers are working in accordance with regulations and to best practice.
