The Queens Hotel is Leeds’ most iconic building, dominating the City Centre square and housing Leeds Central Train Station. Flux Fire was contacted to provide vital fire protection services to this stunning location, ensuring the site was fully secure from fire risk to prevent long-lasting damage and minimise safety concerns.
About the Project
Flux Fire Protection carried out a fire compartmentation survey of the property, completing a Flux Fire line audit report. Our team of firestopping specialists also proposed remediation techniques to install firestopping in the property’s service voids to ensure compliance with the Fire Strategy Plan. Works were instructed to maintain the integrity of the building, ensuring the safety of the occupants for the future.
Key objectives identified at instruction:
- Compartmentation survey / firestopping survey / passive fire protection survey
- Fire door inspection and any necessary remedial works, including fire door replacements as required
- Any other associated remedial works as a result of the survey to maintain the building's compliance with the Fire Strategy and Building Regulation measures.
- Maintaining the integrity of the compartmentation plans, ensuring safety for occupants and protecting the property.
Services Provided
Working in a live environment with guests, staff, and catering and facing the challenges that come with it, Flux Fire Protection attended the site over an extended period of time to carry out a thorough fire compartmentation survey of the property, using our specialist QA software to report all findings.
The report adopted a “find and fix” methodology, reporting on all requirements needed on the building to maintain the fire integrity of the property, ensuring all areas complied with the fire strategy and the fire compartmentation plans.
The Result
Once the report was completed, Flux Fire quoted all necessary works for the client, and the client instructed these works to commence immediately, putting the safety of their occupants at the top of their list of priorities. In this case, our team of firestopping specialists were able to effectively deliver a comprehensive fire compartmentation survey for a landmark location, providing a bespoke solution to improve the building’s fire protection and maintain compliance with regulations.
